Birthday Bonuses Overview
Birthday bonuses help build client loyalty by acknowledging their special day with a personalized offer. Barberly automates this process, ensuring you never miss a client’s birthday and can provide them with a thoughtful gesture that makes them feel valued.
Understanding Birthday Bonuses
- Birthday bonuses are automatically assigned. You don’t need to assign them manually. Simply configure how many days before a birthday the bonus should be assigned, whether it expires after a certain period, and what the client receives (percentage discount, fixed amount discount, or free service).
- Important requirement: The client must have their birthday entered in their client profile for the system to assign the bonus.
- When a bonus is assigned, the client receives a notification (push, SMS, email - depending on your configuration). When they open your mobile app or website, they’ll see a festive confetti animation and a birthday cake icon in the top right corner, as shown in the screenshots below.
- The bonus is for one-time use only. It can’t be used as a permanent discount. After use, it becomes unavailable until the next birthday bonus is assigned the following year.
Setting Up Birthday Bonus
Navigate to Marketing > Loyalty Program > Birthday Bonus
Set the type of birthday reward:
- Percentage discount (e.g., 20% off any service)
- Fixed amount discount (e.g., $15 off)
- Free service (e.g., complimentary conditioning treatment)
Configure when the offer should be sent:
- On the exact birthday
- A specific number of days before the birthday
- Valid during the birthday month
Customize the birthday message template
Set notification preferences (email, SMS, or both)
How Birthday Bonuses Appear to Clients
When a client opens your mobile app or website, a cheerful confetti animation appears along with a red birthday cake icon in the top right corner, as shown here:

When clients tap on the birthday cake icon, they’re taken to a page with their birthday bonus details:

How Clients Can Use Their Bonus
On the booking summary page, clients can tap to check available promotions:

The Birthday Bonus appears at the top of the list. Clients simply select it:
